Challenge: Managing subs and communication via Trello Boards and email across 13 locations during rapid growth and expansion

SLT’s Background

Founded in 2011, SLT (Strengthen – Lengthen – Tone) is known for its dynamic fusion of cardio, strength training, and pilates classes. As they expanded across the east coast from their New York City roots, they faced the challenge of scaling their subbing process across multiple studios.  Lynsey Price, their Director of Training & Development, shares their journey from a manual sub system to a clear, streamlined process with NetGym.

Overcoming Growing Pains

Initially using a combination of a Trello board and emails, SLT’s old process to manage subs was cumbersome, manual and time-consuming. To manage subs, they recreated their schedule in a Trello board, so each studio had every single class block on the board. To find subs,  instructors and managers emailed back-and-forth in chaotic chains to find and coordinate class coverage. Once a sub was found, they would update their schedule in Mariana Tek and the Trello board.

They knew they needed a tool that could streamline this process and keep up with their expansion and future growth plans. NetGym stepped in to revamp this process, introducing a platform that worked across mobile and desktop, enabling instructors and managers to handle sub requests with ease on-the-go.

The NetGym Solution

Advanced Communication and Seamless Integration

With the integration to Mariana Tech, NetGym automatically swaps instructors in the live schedule once a sub has been approved, so no more updating multiple schedules, giving back time and minimizing human error.

NetGym brought a streamlined messaging & communication tool to SLT, boosting team interactions and operational clarity. Since SLT hosts multiple events a month, Lindsey loves how easily and quickly she can send an announcement to one (or multiple or all!) studios with upcoming events, all within NetGym’s messaging tool.

“It’s such a great way to push [events] out because it also has the RSVP function, which is so helpful for an [event] facilitator to know what your head count is going to look like before teaching a workshop.”

Strategic Advantages and Proactive Collaboration

The shift to NetGym has allowed Lynsey to focus on more strategic aspects of the business, including growing their talent and enriching their training curriculum. The collaboration with NetGym has been marked by a proactive exchange of ideas and incorporating SLT’s feedback, leading to continuous improvements of the platform.

The Outcome: Streamlined Sub Management for Strategic Growth

With NetGym, SLT not only streamlined sub management during their hyper-growth phase but also established a foundation for sustained strategic development. The partnership underscored the power of adapting innovative tech to meet the unique demands of fitness, resulting in a more efficient and goal-driven operation.

SLT’s experience with NetGym shows the transformative potential of specialized subbing tool. Through intuitive design, responsive communication features, and their integration with Mariana Tek, NetGym has helped SLT address operational challenges, allowing them to focus on key business goals and achieve smoother, more scalable studio growth and management.
